STATEMENT FROM
PRESIDING JUDGE, BRAD DEMEO
The Sonoma County Superior Court is committed to protecting the health and safety of our community while performing our constitutional duties!
June 4, 2020
We at the Sonoma County Superior Court are mindful of the health and safety of all persons at our courthouses. We continue to balance our duty to provide a place of justice with the very real threat to our health posed by the COVID-19 virus. We have sought and received guidance from Sonoma County Public Health and the Public Health Officer. We have relied on the expertise and experience of those who know more about the COVID-19 virus than we do. We will continue to follow the orders, directions and guidelines from these experts for the safety and welfare of our employees, judicial officers and those who must come to our courthouses.
Message from the Presiding Judge, Brad Demeo
Sonoma County Superior Court is increasing court services and operation
June 1, 2020
It is time for the Sonoma County Superior Court to expand services. Our experience in the last two months has reminded us that our courts provide essential services to the people of Sonoma County. From custody orders impacting the lives of small children to the constitutional rights of litigants in all areas of the law, we impact thousands of lives every day. We take great pride in our work. Every person employed by the Superior Court of Sonoma County performs valuable duties as a part of our team. We are required to continue our services to those who need us most in the face of adversity. Even with partial operations, we continue to have an impact on the lives of thousands. As we expand services to the public, we will ensure a safe, healthy, and clean working environment for our employees, our judicial officers, and all persons in and around the courthouses. Only people with matters before the court or required to be present will be permitted to enter the courthouses at this time to comply with the requirements of the public health orders. When you come to court, you are required to observe the CDC's health guidelines and Governor and the local Public Health Officer's orders during the shelter in place. All persons entering any of our courthouses are required to wear a face-covering and maintain six-foot social distancing at all times. Gathering in groups, leaving designated areas without permission, and close personal contact is prohibited in and around the courthouses. Instructions and messages will be posted throughout the courthouses with these and other rules, included. Any violation of these rules may result in removal from the premises at the discretion of the court administration or a judicial officer. Please anticipate delays in processing filings, calendars, and other matters each day. We ask for your patience and understanding as we progress into the new normal in Sonoma County.
Be well, and welcome back to the courthouse!
