As of January 1, 2001 all Superior Court employees are exempt from the provisions of the Sonoma County Civil Service System, and are considered to be employees of the Court and are subject to the Court's personnel policies. Superior Court of Sonoma County employee benefits include: vacation and sick leave, paid court holidays, health and life insurance, flexible spending accounts, short and long term disability insurance, access to an Employee Assistance Program, and a retirement plan: a tax deferred contributory system under the County Retirement Act of 1937.

The Superior Court of Sonoma County currently has 20 judges, 3 commissioners and 215 employees. Court operations are conducted at four locations in the County: Hall of Justice, Civil and Famly Law Courthouse, Empire College Annex and the Juvenile Justice Center.
