Trial Call & Trial Motions

IMPORTANT NOTICE

 EFFECTIVE FRIDAY FEBRUARY 16, 2024 DEPARTMENT 18 WILL BE HEARING A SECOND WEEKLY LAW AND MOTION CALENDAR BASED ON CALENDAR CONGESTION.

 JURY AND COURT TRIALS MAY NEED TO BE DARK ON FRIDAYS BASED ON THE NEEDS OF THE COURT TO ACCOMMODATE THIS CALENDAR.

 AT THE COURT’S DISCRETION DURING TRIAL CALL ON FRIDAY, THE COURT WILL INFORM THE PARTIES WHETHER OR NOT THEIR TRIAL WILL BE DARK ON FRIDAYS.

 THIS SCHEDULE IS SUBJECT TO CHANGE BASED ON THE NEEDS OF THE COURT

TRIALS: 

All Trials will proceed as scheduled. Counsel and self-represented litigants shall appear in person. Subsequent appearances shall be in person unless the court grants permission to appear through remote technology (“Zoom”). Any party, counsel, or witness who seeks to appear through remote technology shall comply with Code of Civil Procedure § 367.75 and California Rules of Court rule 3.672, including use of Judicial Council form RA-010 and RA-020 (“Notice of Remote Appearance” and “Order Regarding Remote Appearance”).

TRIAL MOTIONS: 

Counsel and self-represented litigants are required to appear in Courtroom 18 in person or by using remote technology (“Zoom”).  Any party, counsel, or witness who seeks to appear through remote technology shall comply with Code of Civil Procedure § 367.75 and California Rules of Court rule 3.672, including use of Judicial Council form RA-010 and RA-020 (“Notice of Remote Appearance” and “Order Regarding Remote Appearance”).

The following cases will be called on the Civil Trial and/or Trial Motions Calendars. Telephonic appearances are not permitted. Cases not assigned for trial will be placed on the calendar to trail for the week. Cases not reached by Friday will be reset and given a priority status.
